Colors, patterns, and forms. I can't help but be drawn to these things. Taking a walk or hike and just looking around can be very inspiring, particularly as the seasons change. I notice the colors of the changing landscape represented by flowers and foliage, by the sky, and by the earth. There are patterns on leaves and the bark of trees and marks made by insects on a fallen and split log. I bring those ideas back with me and while the translation into paint and marks isn't exact, the idea is always there underneath.

Going to museums is a real treat for me. When I was a kid, I liked the natural histories one best and enjoyed looking at the dioramas and the different display cases full of mysterious objects from another time. While there are many ways to display artifacts and other antiquities, my favorite arrangement of objects is often contained in a curio cabinet or cabinet of curiosities. It's where a collection of similar things with a common story can live. The pieces below are inspired by my own version of a "collection." I feel that all of the different printed papers can blend together much like the objects on display in a diorama or on a shelf or in a cabinet; a collection of marks and colors and shapes. It's my hope that these collections can tell a story of sorts much like a curio cabinet or cabinet of curiosity would. Enjoy!
