Welcome!
I am a collage artist and former CA Bay Area native currently residing in the beautiful Northern California foothills. The work that I make is called collage and utilizes my own hand printed papers. I am really a painter at heart and learned early on about traditional ideas involving the principles of line, shape, and color. My prints and compositions reflect these ideas and while the pieces appear abstract, there is something afoot! In order to make these collages, the papers so painstakingly printed must be cut down to size. The central question for me is always: What happens when the papers get cut up? What happens to the design in other words and then when the pieces are put together, what happens then? It's an ongoing back and forth, full of surprise for me. It's why I cut into papers that often take me some time and thought to make and are one of a kind. The finished pieces reflect this dialogue but also offer the viewer (and myself) a different kind of conversation; an opportunity to interpret and relate to the collage as a whole. What can be seen in the prints? What kinds of feelings are generated by the piece in its entirety? Those are great questions and ultimately, they are what keeps me (and hopefully the viewer) interested in the work.

I generally write a blog post every time I complete a new piece. The posts go over my process for making the piece as well as detailing my thoughts about the content. Following these blog posts is a painless way to see what it's all about. Try the box below or the box on the blog page.
